Kyra Minturn

 Kyra Minturn Sedgwick (born August 19, 1965) is an American producer, actress and director. Her leading role on TNT's crime drama The Closer as Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson is her most well-known. Sedgwick received a Golden Globe Award in 2007 for her performance as Johnson and an Emmy Award 2010 for her portrayal. After the conclusion of the seventh season the show was cancelled on August 13, 2012. Sedgwick's recurring role of Madeline Wuntch in the sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine is also noteworthy. Sedgwick was nominated to the Golden Globe award in 1995 for her role on Something to Talk About. Sedgwick's other film roles include Oliver Stone's Born on the Fourth of July (1989), Cameron Crowe's Singles (1992), Heart and Souls (1993), Phenomenon (1996) and What's cooking (2000), Secondhand Lions (2003), The Game Plan (2007), and The Possession (2012). Sedgwick was born in New York City, the daughter of Patricia (nee Rosenwald), who was a speech instructor and educational/family therapy therapist, and Henry Dwight Sedgwick V, an investor in venture capital. Her mother was Jewish, and her father was Episcopalian. Sedgwick was of English origins. Sedgwick has stated that she is Jewish and has been a participant in Passover dinners.
