Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris, born October 20 1964 is a prominent American politician as well as a lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female vice president , and the most powerful female politician in U.S. history, as well as the first African American and first Asian American vice president. She is a member and former senator from California. Harris was born in Oakland, California. She graduated from Howard University as well as the University of California Hastings College of the Law. Harris began her career with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. She was then appointed to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003 she was elected San Francisco District Attorney. Harris was elected Attorney general of California in 2010. In 2014, she was re-elected. Harris was the junior United States Senate from California from 2017-2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate election to become the 2nd African American woman and the first South Asian American to serve in the United States Senate. As a senator , she supported health reform, federal descheduling for cannabis, a pathway for immigrants who are not legal citizens as well as the DREAM Act and a ban on assault weapons. She also backed progressive tax reform. Her name is well-known due to the direct questioning she conducted of Trump government officials during Senate hearings.
