Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman investor, speaker, consultant and syndicated columnist. She is also an TV personality, author and author. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage she established. NRT purchased it for $66million in 2001. Corcoran eventually left the company. Corcoran was one of the original Shark Tank investors. She has appeared on every season of ABC's Shark Tank. Since February of 2020, she's signed 53 deals with the show, with the biggest one being $350,000 for 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second of 10 children in a middle class Irish-Catholic family. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mom and a homemaker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., bounced between jobs throughout Corcoran's childhood. Her family frequently depended on food delivery services for free from a local grocer. Corcoran remembers her father, a man who sometimes drank excessively, and treated her mother in a manner that was disrespectful and condescendingly, especially after he'd had a few drinks. Corcoran had difficulty in school, and she was later told that she was dyslexic. Corcoran was educated at an Catholic elementary school and then enrolled in high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran graduated from Leonia High School with a degree in English after failing several courses during her first year.
